*UPDATE*

Thank you all for the generous donations! I am so excited heading into the new year by how this movement is picking up steam. I am looking forward to hearing from some of you as well, as you take this information out into your communities. Here is some of what we have accomplished so far:

  • Paid Jonathan Eberle, our videographer $2,500 towards what I owe him for the interview video, and research.
  • Jelie E, my graphic designer did a phenomenal job designing a magnetic sign for my car door. We tweaked the design a little bit and I just ordered 4 more. Someone already stopped me in a parking lot and asked for more information!
  • I had an exhibit table at Prevention Day at the WV State Capital building on January 12, with a beautiful new banner, designed by Jelie, and lots of beautiful informational handouts.  My husband and I were fielding interested questions and sharing information non-stop. The most common response was that this made so much sense!
  • As a result of being at Prevention Day, I realized that we need a document on how pro-recovery eating is crucial to prevention as well as recovery, so I am in the process of writing that. It will be on the website as a resource for all of you to use as well.
  • On January 6th I met with the Executive Director of the Huntington Rescue Mission. Within an hour, we had decided that the Mission could start cooking/shopping/budgeting classes for many of its constituents, including children. This would be the first time many of them had ever received any healthy eating or cooking information. Rather than simply feeding people, it will now start teaching people how to effectively feed themselves, and WHY healthy eating and cooking actually matters to their emotional /physical welfare and addiction recovery. Classes will be kept very basic. A new Dietetics graduate from Marshall University has already volunteered to take this on. I will keep you all posted.
